May Gibbs is one of Australia’s best loved classic children book illustrators and authors. May’s deep love and understanding of the Australian bush was portrayed in her work, inspiring in children her own love of nature and transforming the Australian bush into a place where wildflower babies and Banksia men dwell. Though best-known today for her iconic Gumnut Babies and Snugglepot and Cuddlepie books, May Gibbs was originally trained as a botanical artist and illustrator. Her deep and abiding love of nature revealed itself through her unique paintings of the Australian landscape - its native flowers, trees, unique rock formations, and fascinating creatures.

An early environmentalist, conservation and care for our environment are the overriding themes of many of her books. Her great love of the bush and its creatures is apparent on every page and with every illustration. Friendship, courage, the rewards of sacrificing oneself for friends and especially kindness are all strong themes.

Bright and fun print

Bought this print to bring some colour into my sunroom. The retro illustration combined with bright background gives it a pop art vibe. Looks great framed. Great way to brighten up a room.

Yay, we love to hear that! Thank you for your five star review x

Damaged poster

The actual poster is lovely.. perhaps the quality is a bit grainy but it still looks nice. This was meant to be a gift but it arrived and had small rips and was crinkled on the bottom from packaging. I emailed the team and they sent another right away, which was brilliant, but even the new one was crinkled and had a small rip. It will cover with a frame, however maybe it would be worthwhile to rethink how these items are packaged for mail? :)
