Whether it brings you excitement, nostalgia, or an ever growing sense of aging, vintage-inspired interiors just keeps coming back, baby.
It’s undeniable that a textural, and sun-filled 70s home has etched itself into our design books and pinterests boards for good. This autumn, we’re dreaming of sunken lounges, vintage florals, textural piles of cushions, rattan lamps and the sounds of our most treasured records. Our AW24 collection, Toasty, has shimmied its way in amongst our favourites for its late 60s jewel tones, nostalgic florals, and range of colourful boucle cushions reimagined into a cosy colour palette.
Warm up your home with our four favourite trends for the season.
1. Boucle
Don’t worry, it’s not your grandma’s boucle. You’d be hard pressed to find an Architectural Digest featured home without a hint of boucle. The trend traces back to Eero Saarinen’s 1946 ‘Womb chair’, becoming an instant classic for its curly fabric that makes you want to do just that - curl up! It soon solidified itself as the fabric of choice for mid century modern furniture. Whilst this beloved textile once laid dormant on the design landscape, interior designers are now scrambling to find perfectly intact vintage boucle cloud couches.
We’re skipping the hunt and adding our new favourite texture with our Boucle Cushions. We’ve reimagined the standard white boucle, opting for rich oranges and cool alpine green. You’ll even have your options doubled - these babies are reversible and have contrasting colours on each side. Trust us, shuffle some boucle amongst your current cushion lineup - it’s irresistible snuggly.
2. Statement ceramics
Strong, timeless, and impactful, we’ve put this ancient art form at the centre of our tables, and the forefront of AW24 Toasty wishlist lists. Bold ceramics are back on our dining tables. We adore fresh fruit and vegetables here at Kip&Co. You’ll notice fruit scattered throughout almost every Kip&Co campaign - the vibrant colours of freshly picked produce are our ultimate styling tool.
It’s no surprise that this Autumn we’re bringing you our dream ceramic fruit bowls to be filled with seasonal fruits, and to perfectly pear with your french flax linen tablecloths. Complete the look with matching mugs, plates, bowls, or a platter in either Checkered or Hypnotic. Crafted and painted by hand, each piece will slightly vary in print. You’ll be set to have the most fabulous cheeseboard at book club.
3. Retro velvet
Ever wondered why our styled up beds seem to pack that extra punch? Texture, texture, and more texture. The last 20 years of styling advice have told us to keep it simple, banned us from pattern clashing and forbid combining fabrics - it’s time to unlearn those instincts and pick up some tips from those oh-so-inviting 70s homes.
We’re bringing our spaces to life this Autumn with our tried and tested Kip&Co velvet. Make an immediate statement in your living room with an extra soft velvet beanbag - we can’t get enough of Anenome Velvet. Our favourite retro stylists play with height, size, and textile to create multi-dimensional spaces that invite you to explore.
4. Vintage florals
It’s hard to believe that we once painted over timeless floral wallpaper in favour of plain white walls. If you’re not quite brave enough to strip back that paint, bring that dreamy garden back inside with some vintage inspired floral bedding.
We’ve refreshed the old school florals with a bright modern palette for Autumn, on smooth organic cotton and fresh french flax linen. Don’t be shy to introduce it slowly by adding some Wild Rose Organic Cotton Pillowcases or Euros to your current bedding set up. Keep your linen plain and leave your touch of floral just for you with a statement Pansy Organic Cotton Fitted Sheet. Looking for something a bit more traditional? Opt for our new print offering a tropical spin on French Chinoiserie - the Bahamas French Flax Linen. Unlike a real bouquet, your floral bedding will stay fresh all year round.
