Your journey to becoming an artist has been nothing short of inspiring! Can you take us on a quick stroll down memory lane and tell us how you got started as an artist?
I grew up in Eltham which was full of creatives. Our neighbours were architects, artists, musicians and intellectuals all passionate about pursuing these vocations. When we were living there, John Reid died and he gifted his home to the state, and Heide Museum of Modern Art opened its doors. Mum used to take my sisters and I on trips to Heide to see the exciting works of the Australian Art School.
At sixteen I got a scholarship to study overseas at the National Cathedral School in Washington DC. The school had a wonderful art department who took us on regular excursions to see the incredible exhibitions coming through the National art galleries. My brain expanded. I came back to Australia knowing I wanted to be an artist. The Art Department at Geelong College were hugely supportive of me and helped me to put on my first sell-out exhibition before I finished school.

Your artwork is known for being deeply inspired by landscapes and the wonders of nature around us. How did these elements come to play such a central role in your work, and why are they so meaningful to you?
My childhood home was on the Yarra River with an acre of garden to explore characterised by tall gums, native flora and blue tongues lizards. Every spare moment of my youth was spent outdoors in an atmosphere of sun, wind and eucalyptus and at a tender and impressionable age the magic of the environment infused me. When you live in the landscape for long enough, it enters your soul, and inevitably begins to emerge in everything you create.

We can’t help but gush about your home, your art is everywhere! If you had to describe your interior style in just a few words, how would you do it? And where do you look for inspo when you’re creating both in your art and in your living spaces?
My style is layered, eclectic and unabashedly maximalist. I use a lot of bold textures, patterns and rich colours and I’m adventurous and experimental. My husband and I have picked up a multitude of interesting pieces through our travels over the years. Music, poetry, and the natural landscape are all great sources of inspiration for me.
Congratulations on wrapping up a solo exhibition in Tasmania! Can you tell us about the concept behind the work you presented? What was the creative process like and did you experience any challenges along the way?
My latest show explores the Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race. This exhibition is my homage to the heroic Australian spirit and one of the legendary stories that make up our folklore. But it is also an unabashed declaration of personal pleasure and sheer revelry in our Australian landscape.
Painting it took me on an emotional journey through the inevitable agonies and ecstasies of the creative process. You sometimes need to go through those metaphysical break-downs with an artwork in order to create something significant.

We’re all about the next big thing. Are there any exciting projects in the works that you’re dying to share with us? We’re all ears!
I’ve just been hiking the 3 Capes Track in Tasmania which was truely heart stirring. The myriad islands of the archipelago, the towering dolerite cliffs, the perilous wild oceans…. I have another exhibition booked in for Easter 2026 which I can’t wait to paint!
